5G Automotive Association and International Telecommunication Union join “5G Techritory” as Organizational Partners

Baltic Region 5G Ecosystem Forum ”5G Techritory” is one of the leading 5G technology events worldwide, which will be held this year on September 27 and 28 in Riga, Latvia. It is organized by the Electronic Communication Office of Latvia in a close cooperation with the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, the Nordic Council of Ministers, and the new international partners – 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

”5G Techritory” will have a rather unique objective to create a platform for the Baltic Sea region community, businesses and consumers for the development of a healthy 5G ecosystem which would serve as a role model for building the European Gigabit Society. 

The Forum will highlight high-level business and political discussions on 5G global deployment, including on how to turn visions into compelling and sound business models as well as on the latest 5G progress in Europe. There will be a special focus on such verticals as the smart city, smart mobility, smart healthcare and Industry 4.0. The Forum will also include an exclusive Inspirational Talks event ”Future of the Car” with Steve Mollenkopf, CEO, Qualcomm and the latest 5G technology presentations.

5G Automotive Association (5GAA) is a global car, technology and telecommunication field (ICT) organization, which cooperates to develop end solutions for future mobility and transport services. The vision and mission of the organization include the vehicles sharing information by using 5G technologies to make the transport safer, greener, and more enjoyable, therefore increasing also the safety on roads. The 5GAA unites a large member base, including 8 founding members: AUDI AG, BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, Nokia, and Qualcomm Incorporated.

International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the largest international telecommunication union in the world, is a specialized agency of the United Nations Organization, which deals with international coordination of different telecommunication systems, radio frequency distribution, as well as the development of telephone and data transfer system standards. ITU includes 193 member states with more than 700 members, including, regulators, universities, research and development institutions, international and regional organizations, as well as leading telecommunication, internet, broadcasting, satellite, software and IT companies. Just in Europe, in general, there have joined 44 member states, unifying companies, organizations and representatives of the academic environment.
