Anda Čakša graduated Latvian Academy of Medicine as a physician in 1999. After residency in Riga Stradins University she obtained a diploma of paediatrician with specialization in anaesthesiology and intensive care. In addition she acquired a MBA in health care management in Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration and graduated a programme "Psychodynamic psychotherapy" in Riga Stradins University. Anda Čakša worked as paediatrician in intensive care unit of Children's Clinical University Hospital (BKUS) in Riga, then in pharmaceutical companies Sanofi - aventis Latviaand Ewopharma AG/Allergan. In 2011 Anda Čakša became the Chairman of the Board of BKUS. Anda Čakša was appointed as a Minister of Health on 16 June 2016.
