Bjoern Pistol (41) is Political Scientist (M.A.)and Industrial Engineer for Maritime Logistics. He worked as office manager in the German Federal Parliament and he was the chairman of the Green Party in the state of Schleswig-Holstein from 2001 to 2004. After he worked for one year with the Hamburg Port Authority he joined UNICONSULT Universal Transport Consulting GmbH as a management consultant for ports and logistics in 2008. He took over a new position at Siemens Wind Power as Global Head of Logistics Strategy in 2012. Bjoern was responsible for the continuous improvement of the worldwide transport and logistics processes and he managed the logistics related aspects of the merger between Siemens Wind Power and Gamesa in 2017. Bjoern started his job at the Hamburg Port Authority as Head of Port Strategy in September 2017. He is responsible for all topics related the strategic development of the Port of Hamburg with a special focus on digital development and sustainability.
Since2005 the Hamburg Port Authority has been providing future-oriented port management services offering one face to the customer. As an institution underpublic law, the HPA is in charge of paving the way for the efficient,resource-friendly and sustainable implementation of infrastructure projects inthe port. The HPA is the contact point for all kinds of questions concerningthe waterside and the landside infrastructure, the navigational safety ofvessel traffic, port railway facilities, port property management and the economic conditions within the port area. The HPA is a trailblazer also for 5G.This gigantic network is currently being officially tested in the Hanseatic City of Hamburg and in Turin by the 5G Mobile Network Architecture (MoNArch) research project funded by the EU. The focus lies on logistical applications concerning traffic and infrastructure control.
