Maik studied automotive engineering in Munich and wrote his doctoral thesis in hybrid technologies and the associated combinatorics in motor vehicles at the University of Lugano.
In 2004, he joined BMW AG Development. In 2008, Maik became a Corporate Strategy expert responsible for CO2 strategy. In 2015 he participated in forming the Future Mobility Team in the Corporate and Governmental Affairs division. In 2020 Maik became Head of Sustainability and Mobility in Corporate and Governmental Affairs. Since 2021 he has been Head of Mobility and Digital Car in Corporate and Governmental Affairs division.
