Matti Latva-aho received the M.Sc., Lic.Tech. and Dr. Tech (Hons.) degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oulu, Finland in 1992, 1996 and 1998, respectively. From 1992 to 1993, he was a Research Engineer at Nokia Mobile Phones, Oulu, Finland after which he joined Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) at the University of Oulu.
Currently, Latva-aho leads National Flagship on Wireless Communications titled 6G-Enabled Wireless Smart Society & Ecosystem. It is one of the six national spearhead research programmes selected after national competition by Academy of Finland. The budget of 6G Flagship is 251M€ and it’s duration is eight years. 6G Flagship is expected to leverage national 6G R&D activities to reach a level of several billions of Euros.
Latva-aho has published almost 500 papers with a citation h-index is 47. He also holds 11 patents. Latva-aho was nominated to Academy of Finland Professor position for 2017 – 2021.
