Takuya Izumi

Takuya Izumi is Director of Information Policy Planning in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. In his capacity, he is responsible for policy development in the area of artificial intelligence (AI), the coordination of Global Partnership on AI, and EU-Japan digital policy cooperation.

Mr. Izumi has previously served as Director for Medical Imaging Technology in the Japan Patent Office and as Senior Director in NEDO Silicon Valley Office, where he was responsible for research on intellectual property and technology trend including AI.

He earned LL.M. from the George Washington University Law School and a Master of Science from the University of Tokyo.
