Athanasios Staveris-Polykalas is a graduate of the Department of Physics of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Applied Physics and Mathematics from the National Technical University of Athens and a Ph.D. in High Energy Physics from the National Kapodistrian University.
Athanasios has academic experience in High Energy Physics, working as a researcher in the CDF International Experiment in Fermilab, USA, having won a European Scholarship (RTN scholarship) and collaborating with the Pione Institute of Nuclear Physics of Pisa (INFN Sez).
In addition, he has 10+ years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale ICT projects in the private sector, working internationally. Athanasios specializes in data analysis, using algorithms of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and text analysis using NLP (Natural Language Processing) methodologies.
He has also been an advisor to the Minister of State and Digital Governance of Greece, where he contributed to the management of cybersecurity issues and the completion of service 112 in collaboration with the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.
