Minister of State for Media, Data, and Digital Infrastructure DCMS

Julia Lopez MP has represented the Greater London constituency of Hornchurch & Upminster in Parliament since June 2017. She was promoted by the Prime Minister to Parliamentary Secretary in the Cabinet Office in 2020, serving on the International Trade Committee in the 2017-2019 parliament.

Julia Lopez was appointed Minister of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport on 16 September 2021. Her portfolio covers a wide range of areas: telecoms and digital infrastructure – including broadband rollout; data policy and reform; cyber security and digital identity; supporting our media and creative industries; as well as a corporate business within the Department.

Julia grew up in Essex and was educated at her local state primary and secondary schools before securing a place at Queens College, the University of Cambridge, to read Social and Political Sciences.
