Seung-Hun Hong

ASSOCIATE RESEARCH FELLOW Korea Institute of Public Administration

Dr. Seung-Hun Hong is an interdisciplinary regulation scholar with a background in Political Science (Political Thoughts). He currently works as an Associate Research Fellow in the Division of Regulatory Innovation Research at the Korea Institute of Public Administration.

He received a Ph.D. from School of Regulation and Global Governance at the Australian National University in 2016. Currently, his work is mainly focused on the regulation of emerging technologies. He leads research projects on measuring flexibility of regulatory reforms regarding emerging technologies, the regulation of smart mobility, and the impact of COVID-19 government responses on human rights.

Before moving to South Korea, Seung-Hun had chances to closely observe the process of Brexit while working as a Principal Researcher at the Korean Embassy in London. He has a broad range of research interest, including regulatory governance, care capitalism, regulation of emerging technologies, street-level bureaucracy, AI-based regulatory reforms, and Neo-republican institutionalism.
